September 30 in Canada is now known as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Since 2013, September 30 has also been known as Orange Shirt Day which is a day to honor Indigenous children who were forced to attend residential schools.

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is a time to reflect, recognize and commemorate the legacy of residential schools, and to honour the lost children and the survivors, their families and communities.
