WOODSTOCK - A city-based job finding business has launched a new online, regional job search site to attract local applicants to local openings.

Almost 40 employers, within an hour's drive of Woodstock, have signed onto www.peoplequest.ca to list their job openings.

Those include some of the area's biggest employers, Cami Automotive Inc., Timberjack and the Woodstock General Hospital.

Each company is profiled on the site for job seekers and most include links to their own Web sites.

People Management Group, the human resources company that launched peoplequest.ca in November, hopes it will act as a local alternative to larger job finding sites online, such as monster.ca and careerclick.com.

"It's more detailed and it's a local forum - for both local job seekers and local businesses who want local applicants, not just those from half way across the country that they'd inevitably get from other sites," said Laila Morris, the site's system administrator.

Job seekers can surf the site for free but are encouraged to register with an online resume profile. Companies pay to list their openings, and peoplequest.ca manages their human resource databases, keeping employment applicants on file.

The site so far lists about 50 available jobs.
